Brunswick Heads is in the heart of a wonderfully interesting, delicious and trendy part of the Australian eastern coastline. With surrounding areas such as Byron Bay, Bangalow and Kingscliff, it is settled in a super convenient part of the world while being charming in its own right. We recently spent a week holidaying in this beautiful town and every day we discovered somewhere yummy to eat, a cute shop to buy from and a waterway to soak our bodies in!
Here are my teen's top picks!
If retro Instagram worthy pics are as important to you as they are to us, the Chalet at Brunswick heads is a perfect family accommodation to base your travels. With free mineral water on tap, internet and Netflix, expensive body products, as well as a gorgeous lagoon-style pool and kitchenette, it is a great place for families to recharge after the many hours of beaching and shopping.
Our first night in town we stumbled into this restaurant, hungry and tired, and we were delighted with what we found. Luscious and fresh, Saint Maries food was delicious to eat and beautiful to look at. Its casual vibe is perfect for families eating early dinner or for friends catching up for a drink later.
Old Maids is a perfect option for families as they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We grabbed a few meals from this gem, with healthy burgers and fries on the menu it is a great place to feed the fussy eaters while still feeling like your still serving them nutritious food.
On its website Bruns Bakery says it is “More Than Just A Bakery” and I have to wholeheartedly agree. This was a popular place during our visit. With something for everyone; fresh salads, mini pizzas, pies and custard doughnuts to die for.
Our most favourite shop but unfortunately we were so busy shopping that I forgot to get photos!!
This shop is beautifully styled and full of some of our favourite brands… the teenagers and I went a bit crazy. Luckily there was a Dad seat out the front! We were so excited to buy Lilah's first bikini from their range of Bimby and Roy. This range can be worn as underwear as well as swimwear.
This brand is probably one that suits both my girls really well. Their range of ladies clothing is well made using quality fabrics, and is on-trend but also timeless in its appeal. Their new range of linen clothing has been a big hit with the youngest member of our family. So we were quick to get into their Brunswick Heads store to buy up on their newest pieces. They also have a store in Byron, so make sure you check it out to when you head there for a day trip.
This store certainly is fabulous! A mixture of antiques and new gifts, there is something amazing in every nook of this store. Take some time when you visit and explore it properly, a visit is not to be rushed.
Where To Day Trip To
One of the most popular places to visit in NSW, Byron is still one of our favourite places ever. Its mixture of crazy city streets with the laid back beach attitude and the focus on quality food and retailing means this place will forever be in our heart.
Super popular on Instagram and in real life, this purpose-built community, has a working farm, restaurants and bakery on site. It’s an amazing and unique place to eat, sit or wander. Unlike anywhere else I can think of, it offers a range of experiences for families depending on your interest in farming and food. Whenever we visit we always love to visit the pigs as they lie happily in their pools of mud.
This was the first time we have ever been to this newly established shopping and living area in Byron and we were hooked! The stores in the Habitat are all leaders in their retailing niche, making this an amazing place to spend time absorbing all that is beautiful and on-trend for your home and body.
We discovered Betty’s Burgers many years ago on the Gold Coast and it still remains one of our favourite places to grab a meal. We were so excited to see it at Byron!
Although it seems to be in the middle of nowhere amongst the rolling hills behind Byron Bay, this little village is well worth a visit for its food and drink creations.
It was the second time we had been to this cafe and once again it provided heaven in a bowl. This Japanese cafe in a little country village turns out dishes with delicate flavours and works of art on the plate. It is a casual atmosphere with outside tables and no table service but it packs a punch in terms of quality of food. Great place to take the family.
While in town, don’t forget to grab a coffee at Moonshine Coffee Roasters. The customer service was friendly and the coffee was one of the best I had all week… and in the Byron area that’s saying something.
Kingscliff, Pottsville, Bangalow & Newyrbar were on our list of other favourite areas we visited while holidaying in Brunswick Heads and definitely worth a visit!
